Welcome to Rutland Sailability

We have over 25 years of experience of facilitating safe sailing for people with disabilities in the delightful setting of Rutland Water. We offer a range of training, sailing for fun, & racing, for those with every level of sailing skill - beginners to elite.

We provide accessible boats & equipment, in a fully accessible venue and the support of a great team of friendly, experienced volunteers.

We welcome sailors with a disability & able-bodied volunteers.  Everyone is a member and age is no barrier.  We currently have members aged between 7 and 87yrs old!

Weather permitting, April to October, we sail every Thursday (all day) & Saturday (morning only).  November to March we meet on Thursdays for an interesting series of talks, training & socialising.

Rutland Water: Forecast Weather Conditions

2024 Sailing Season Has Just Started!

Over the winter months, far from hibernating, we ran programme of lectures and on-shore training every Thursday.  Integral to this was also the opportunity for members to meet up over a coffee or lunch at Rutland Sailing Club and 'shoot-the-breeze'!

Since the begining of March we have been bringing our boats out of winter storage and shaking down both the crews and the boats in preparation for the 2024 sailing season.  Thursday sailing restarted on Thursday 4th April and while Saturday sailing should have started on 6th April it was cancelled due to the 35-40kt winds!

We have now had a couple of Thursday's sailing and with some replacement boats and new members we are gearing ourselves up for a most enjoyable 2024 Sailing Season.

Do have a look through this website about the who, what, why and where of Rutland Sailability and then come on down and give it a go....  see if sailing 'rocks-your-boat'!

The photos below were taken on our last Thursday & Saturday Sailing Days in 2023.  A 'dreek' day but with a lot of fun and achievment!  Watch out for the 2024 pictures.
