Training

Rutland Sailability provides its members with the opportunity to undertake formal training courses, at little or no cost to themselves. The training is provided by qualified instructors and is usually given at the Rutland Sailing club site.

The training ranges from training specific to RS, such as People Handling skills, to formal RYA training courses, such as Senior Instructor courses.

RYA Courses

Formal RYA courses offered include RYA Dinghy level 1 and 2, Powerboat handling, First Aid and Instructor training.

Instructors

There are a number of RYA qualified DInghy Keelboat Instructors, Senior Instructors and a Chief Instructor, who is responsible for the overall sailing and safety of the RS activity.

Other Pathways

Other non RYA training is provided, which is more appropriate to the Sailability operation.  These courses comprise People Handling (lifting people in hoists), Disability Awareness, Tractor Driving, Electric and Petrol Driven buggies and Jetty Master. These short training courses ensure that we do things safely.
